Enkei was born circular.
When Miriam and Lovisa started Enkei, the question wasn't simply what to make — it was how to make something genuinely aesthetically pleasing without it costing the earth. Not a brand that chose between beautiful and responsible, but one that saw no difference.
Built on that conviction of a category-changing brand Enkei was founded.
Months of research took them from construction sites to landfills, looking for the waste stream with the greatest potential — for material quality, aesthetic possibility and scale. They found it in construction ceramics. This became the base of their first innovation: ReCeramix™ — a material made from over 90% waste that rivals decorative concrete and natural stone in both performance and appearance.
To prove it worked, they applied ReCeramix™ to their first product: Reminder (001), a lamp designed by ASCA Studio and launched at Nordiska Kompaniet in 2024. It shone light on the solution — proof that materials can stay in the system through creativity, transformation and a fair amount of guts.
The lamp range grew. So did the team, and the material's possibilities — in terms of applications, scale and the volume of waste we can transform. The first step in this direction was tabletops: same material, larger surface. The destination, however, is much further.
