Our Story

Enkei was born circular. When founders Miriam and Lovisa started Enkei, they knew they wanted to create something that could inspire and contribute to circular transformation at scale.
Months of research took them from construction sites to landfills, searching through discarded materials for solutions with the greatest potential for lasting impact. Among mountains of waste, they found the foundation for their first innovation: construction ceramics. This discovery led to ReCeramix™—a ceramic-based material made from over 90% waste that can replace decorative concrete and natural stone in both performance and appearance.

To prove their vision, test the material and fund ongoing research, they applied ReCeramix™ to their first lamp—Reminder (001)—designed by ASCA Studio and launched at Nordiska Kompaniet in 2024. The lamp served as proof that materials can stay in the system through innovation, transformation and creativity (plus a fair amount of guts and grit.) The lamp families expanded, the team grew, and so did applications for the material.

They knew they had to bring more materials back into the loop faster, more scalably and more impactfully. As a first step towards larger applications and surfaces, they launched tabletops—bringing circular materials back into architecture and everyday life at scale. This is just the beginning.Enkei is building a world where the most beautiful and sustainable materials no longer come from extraction, but from transformation. Enkei challenges outdated material systems by proving that circular alternatives can outperform virgin materials—whilst being more desirable, scalable and profitable.
